Bishop Thomas launches the 2008 Ride & Stride The Bishop of Brentwood has officially launched the 2008 Friends of Essex Churches Ride & Stride.  At the launch event, which was held at All Saints’ Church in Epping Upland on 9 September, the Rt Revd Thomas McMahon presented a cup to Ron Sutcliff of All Saints’ Church. Epping Upland is the church which raised the most in the 2007 Ride & Stride - £3,180 out of a total of more than £106,000. This year’s sponsored Ride & Stride will take place on Saturday 13 September from 10.00am to 5.00pm across Essex and East London. Participants will cycle or walk from church to church. Bishop Thomas congratulated the gallant fund-raisers from All Saints’ Church for all they had done in 2007 and said: “It gives me immense pleasure to launch the 2008 Ride & Stride. “This is a superb example of Christian churches working together across the various denominations to help preserve the fabric of Christian places of worship. The Riders and Striders have my deepest admiration for putting in the leg work on September 13th.” Bishop Thomas launched the 2008 Ride & Stride after saying a Prayer for Safety.
