AGM and 2017 Gepp Lecture
Our speaker in 2017 will be Dr John Goodall, architectural editor of Country Life and author of Parish Church Treasures. St Mary's Church, Saffron Walden 8.15 pm, following the Annual General Meeting at 7.15 and refreshments from 7.45. Open to members and non-members; admission free. Invitation to the Garden at Peacocks, Margaretting, from 2.00 pm - 4.30 pm
By kind permission of Mr and Mrs Phil Torr, an exclusive visit to the spectacular garden at Peacocks, Margaretting CM4 9HY. This is a varied five-acre garden with mature native and specimen trees surrounding a Regency house. Modern sculptures and topiary create a wonderful blend of formal and informal spaces. The walled garden, long herbaceous/mixed border, vegetable garden, lily lake, woodland walk, orchard, traditionally managed wildflower meadow and sunken dell provide many elegant and charming views. Mr Torr has kindly offered to lead garden tours at 2.15 pm and 3.30 pm. Tea and homemade cakes. Mainly accessible to wheelchairs, with grass paths and some steps. Access to lavatory facilities limited. Tickets must be applied for in advance. Tickets £13.50 (including 25% donation from ticket sales to St Francis Hospice) from Clare Ford, Elms Farm, Elm Lane, Roxwell, Essex CM1 4NJ. Cheques payable to FECEC please.
