Ride+Stride

Thanking everyone for their amazing support for Ride+Stride 2016, John Pickthorn, our Ride+Stride organiser, said: “Whether you cycled, walked, sponsored someone, or opened your church and provided welcome refreshments, you have been amazing. Thank you for all your hard work. You have helped to save beautiful and historic churches for everyone to enjoy.” Stay tuned for news of our next Ride+Stride on Saturday 9 September 2017.

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

Please become a member of the Friends of Essex Churches Trust

Our members are the lifeblood of the Trust.  We need you to help us grow and prosper.  By joining you will:

  • have the satisfaction of making a real contribution to the preservation of churches and chapels in Essex and East London
  • be invited to a wide variety of events, including the annual Christmas Gift Fair, which usually include delicious refreshments provided by our Events Committee. Click here to go to the Events page, and see what’s on this year
  • be given priority booking for the two annual Study Days, when we visit and learn about a clutch of widely different places of worship.  Over the years we have visited nearly 200 churches in all parts of Essex and East London. Click here for further details
  • receive the News and Annual Report, keeping you up to date with Friends’ activities and details of grants offered during the year
  • be able to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting, which is followed by the Gepp Lecture, given by a distinguished speaker

Membership costs very little:  £20 a year for individuals and £30 for couples, but higher contributions are of course always welcome.  Subscriptions and donations typically account for about a third of our total income. Life membership is also available, for a single subscription of £200 for individuals and £300 for couples.

Membership is open to individual people, as well as churches, chapels and supportive organisations.  Each can become a Friend in their own right.  Each receives the same benefits.

If you live in the Southend area, you can join the Southend Branch which has additional activities, see  Southend webpage.

TO JOIN:

  • EITHER download the application form, complete it and send it with your subscription cheque or banker’s order to Keith Gardner, our Honorary Membership Secretary.  If you are able to Gift Aid your subscription please do so.
