Southend Branch

The Branch is the last of several established in the 1950s, and initially provided funds just for the repair of local churches. Later on, amounts raised, principally now from the coach outings, are sent as a donation to central funds.

We are proud to have maintained a local membership of over eighty for many years. This ensures full coaches on each of the outings and requires early booking to ensure a seat.

Outings for 2012

Tuesday 12th April  St Mary Magdalene, Wethersfield, then LUNCH at Toppesfield village hall followed by the Branch AGM.

Wednesday 9th May  St Mary the Virgin, Tollesbury, for the County AGM with TEA in the church hall. The opportunity should arise to have look round this delightful waterside village.

Tuesday 26th June  St Mary the Virgin, Hatfield Broad Oak, followd by LUNCH at High Cross Farm (near Ware): a second, much-requested visit to this operational dairy and other livestock farm.

Thursday 27th September  St Peter & St Paul, Little Saling, and St Mary the Virgin, Little Dunmow, followed by TEA at Great Easton village hall.

The pick-up route is Hockley to Rayleigh Railway Station forecourt, via Bournes Green, Southchurch Boulevard, London Road A13, and Victoria House Corner, Rayleigh Road.

Pick-up times are between 9.00 a.m. and 10.25 a.m. where a LUNCH is shown, and between 11.30 a.m. and 12.55 p.m. in the case of TEA.
